Nachtbrötchen organises exceptional public art events, inspired by the concept and atmosphere of the Mudd Club in New York, a melting pot of the arts in the late 70s and early 80s. The Mudd Club was like a second home to artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol and Keith Haring. Nachtbrötchen is recreating this extraordinary ambiance, with our uniquely located, temporary events, since 2019. Over 2000 visitors enjoyed our first 3 day exhibition in Düsseldorf. More than 3000 people visited our weekend ‘Drive-In’ Art Gallery at Cologne’s Airport park house. By our third event, the level of experimentation, substance and variety continues to surprise us and evolve, showing us where the possibilities may lead.
Nachtbrötchen aims to create a new “movement” dedicated to the way people engage with art, making it accessible and constantly reinventing the way art is brought to the public. For everybody, young and old, novice or art savvy, we want to make people happy and have fun when they experience art. Each event is dynamically different from the event before. Our concept is to break with even our own tradition. Our aim is to explore all possibilities within this very versatile concept. We fill an unexpected venue full of paintings, sculptures and photography in a wide range of styles, from cash&carry to collector level works. We combine this visual ambiance with music and performances, to create a unique and memorable experience for our visitors.
Music also plays a very important role at all our events. The Düsseldorfer DJ-collective ‘Strandpiraten’ are essential partners of Nachtbrötchen.
The next in the series of Nachtbrötchen events is already scheduled. From June 4th to 6th 2021 we are organizing an exceptional art event in the NDSM Loods in Amsterdam and, after The Netherlands, it’s Belgium’s turn and from July 2nd to 4th 2021, we will be presenting a Nachtbrötchen Event in the attractive Hangar58 location in Genk.
We bring art to the people in a new way!
